The sterile, single use 62 Gastrointestinal Microdialysis Catheter is a unique device. It allows the continuous monitoring and detection of local changes in metabolism during and following gastrointestinal surgery.
The 62 Catheter has a shaft length of 180 mm with a 30 mm membrane. During open surgery the catheter is introduced through the abdominal wall into the intraperitoneal cavity with the help of a tunnelating needle. The catheter is placed freely in the intraperitoneal space close to the anastomosis and can be implanted for several days.
The dialysing membrane of the 62 Gastrointestinal Microdialysis Catheter is designed to achieve excellent diffusion characteristics, allowing a high recovery of substances from the intraperitoneal fluid.
The catheter inlet tubing is connected to a Microdialysis Pump and the outlet ends in a microvial which collects the sample. The samples can be analyzed in the ISCUSflex Microdialysis Analyzer for Glucose, Lactate, Pyruvate, Glycerol, Glutamate and Urea or sent to the laboratory for further investigations.
Microdialysis shall not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or therapy.
